ISEE

The ISEE is a standardized private-school entrance exam, taken by sixth [Middle Level] and eight [Upper Level] graders.

The test consists of five sections and covers:

  1. Verbal Reasoning/40 questions in 25 minutes: Synonyms & Sentence Completions
  2. Quantitative Reasoning/35 questions in 35 minutes
  3. Reading Comprehension/36 questions in 40 minutes
  4. Mathematics Achievement/35 questions in 40 minutes
  5. Essay: 30 minutes

HOW LONG IS THE TEST?

The ISEE lasts approximately three hours.

But what the ISEE tests, as much as anything, are test-taking skills—and that's where Admiral comes in, with our successful, time-saving method of one-on-one test-prep at home.

Why one-on-one? We have found this is what works best, particularly with middle-school students. Why should your student waste his or her valuable time [and your valuable money!] in a classroom, reviewing vocabulary, when what he or she needs help in is math? Admiral instructors zero in on each student's specific strengths and weaknesses, and work precisely in the areas where the students need it.

Why at home? In our hectic world, this is the most effective way to save our students time, and save their parents driving

How many sessions? Most of our students need about 12 sessions, which usually run 90-minutes each. This varies with each individual, as does all Admiral's work.

How much does it cost? The cost is $80/hour. Occasionally two students will work together, and the fee for that is $60/hour each.

Why Admiral? We have been preparing students for the ISEE for years, and we're proud to say that nearly every one of our students in the last few years has gotten accepted into his or her first-choice school!
